Brownies!!! Who knew?

Well, first I want to apologize for not posting in such a long time. Even though there is technically, no one to apologize to. But, I'm going to do it anyway.
:)
Guess what I did tonight?
I duped my family!
Ok, I know that doesn't sound nice, but wait until you hear, er...read!
I made yummy, gooey brownies! With black bean in them! Yep! You read that right. Black beans.

"Why would you ruin a perfectly good, tasty dish of brownies?"

Let me explain.
I used a brownie mix, and with most mixes, you add 2 eggs and 1/2 cup of oil and some water.
With my recipe, I pureed 1 can (plus juices) of black beans and 1 cup of water. Added that to the mix and cooked as recommended.
Now, here's the low down on 1 pan of brownies:

Brownies made the "normal" way:
-Total Fat 164grams
-Cholesterol 300grams
-Sodium 2000grams
-Potassium 126grams
-Total Carbs 461.12grams
(Most of the carbs are from sugars, not fiber)
-Protein 32grams

Brownies made with Black Bean Puree:
-Total Fat 51.5grams
-Cholesterol 0
-Sodium 3440grams
-Potassium 1440grams
-Total Carbs 529grams
(Most of the carbs are from fiber in this one, not sugars)
-Protein 41grams

Interesting findings, eh?
(If you're interested in how I figured the numbers, email me and I'll show you)

I am just so tweaked about this! Now, I realize that I'm still using a brownie mix. However, if you're going to use a mix, why not make it as healthy as possible. :) And who doesn't LOVE gooey, chocolaty, easy brownies?
Now, I'm going to have to delve into hiding more foods, so that my picky 8 year old can grow up big and strong like his daddy.
