Preparing for rain...

We are getting ready to start a whole new school year, plant our fall garden and prepare our bodies for health. (Don't tell the kids!)

This year for school, we'll be using Considering God's Creation as our core curriculum. I cannot wait to get started and watch the children as they blossom. Since Legoboy has realized he can read, and that he actually enjoys it, life will be much more fun for him. (And me!) Our own Jane Austen (she has taken to writing constantly, even though she's 5) is writing, and writing and writing. Notes and such for any and everyone who passes by. Even some who we've not gotten to see in a while.

Our garden. Well, I really need to plan what we're planting, which way the rows will go, get the covering down (we suffer terrible weed issues) and get going! Legoboy really, really wants pumpkins by October again. I'm ready for the cooler weather veggies. My husband, my rock, took it upon himself earlier this month to bless me by clearing out all the old dead plants in our garden and prepare the soil for me. Just LOVE that man! So now it's up to me...

As for our bodies...you probably read my earlier post. I have more "fun" tests and a possible surgery coming up to help my body be better and healthier. The parts I have control over are what goes into my body and the rest of my families bodies. So, with that, comes learning all I can about real foods. I consider "real foods" to be what God made. Not man.
You know what I'm talking about. Ingredient lists that are almost as long as the label itself. Ingredients that are unpronounceable. I'll be going into more detail on those in later posts.
My new philosophy is, If my great-grandmother wouldn't know what it is, I'm not putting it in our bodies.
Sounds like a plan, eh? Slowly putting it into practice. Slowly. Don't want the natives to get too restless and revolt.

So, in a sense, my family (whether they realize it or not) is preparing for rain. What do I mean? Preparing for the blessings that we trust God will bestow upon us. So, we must first prepare our fields for the rain.

Are you prepared for rain?
Please stick around and learn along with me.
